Considering that visitor counts began on March 31, this record was achieved in just four weeks. During this period, the average daily number of visitors was approximately 160 on weekdays and about 330 on weekends.
Facilities and programs that cater to families, children, teenagers, and parents across all generations are being operated in a balanced manner, earning the library recognition as a new English-language multi-cultural platform in the region.
Among these, programs for preschoolers and elementary school students have been especially popular.
Currently, programs such as "Creative English Lab" and "Reading Disney Picture Books in English" for elementary school students are being held. On weekends, native English-speaking instructors are invited to the Story Zone to conduct the "Native Speaker Reading English Fairy Tales" program for preschoolers and elementary school students, which continues to see active participation from children.
In particular, the programs led by native speakers are so popular that registrations, which open every Wednesday at 10 a.m., fill up within a day. As word spreads about the library as a place where children can naturally encounter English through play, reading, and hands-on experiences, enthusiasm for using the facility remains steady.
One local resident who used the library commented, "It's very satisfying that children can naturally be exposed to English and become familiar with books. Every weekend, my child participates in the English programs while I read in the library, so it is a beneficial space for the entire family to spend time together."
Bolstered by these trends and positive feedback, Sokcho City plans to discover even richer content while also creating a systematic reading environment through coordinated operation with existing libraries in the area.
A Sokcho City official stated, "Since its opening, the Sokcho Children's English Library has rapidly established itself as a leading local cultural and educational facility, contributing to the spread of English reading culture and expanding educational opportunities for children and families. We will continue to expand various tailored English programs that reflect user demand in the future."
