The Korea Federation of SMEs announced that it held the "1st Digital Transformation Committee Meeting for 2026" on April 28 at the LG CNS Innovation Studio in Magok, Seoul.

On this day, 12 SME representatives from various industries and 7 government officials and experts participated in the committee meeting and visited the LG CNS Innovation Studio to review cases of AX (AI Transformation).

To enhance expertise, the committee appointed new members including Jaekyung Kwak, Head of the SME AI Expansion Promotion Team at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups; Wonki Kim, Chairman of the Korea PLC Control Industry Cooperative; and Jongwon Hong, Chairman of the Korea Electronic Whiteboard Display Cooperative.

Recently, government policies to accelerate digital transformation, as well as the expansion of AI utilization across industries, have rapidly changed both internal and external environments.

In response, the committee shared exemplary cases and utilization trends of AI adoption, while also listening to the opinions of industry-academia-research experts to promote digital transformation among SMEs.

Various opinions were raised on the need for customized support to bridge the digital gap among SME sectors and to promote the spread of AX.

The Korea Federation of SMEs plans to gradually expand its work scope to promote the digital and AI transformation of SMEs and build a data ecosystem by amending the Small and Medium Business Cooperative Act.

Byungjun Han, Chairperson of the Digital Transformation Committee at the Korea Federation of SMEs, stated, "AI and digital transformation for SMEs is a matter of survival, but it remains a field where even getting started is difficult and polarization is accelerating. While SMEs need to enhance their understanding of digital transformation through various cases, the government and support organizations should provide universal support as well as customized assistance focused on enterprises with strong motivation and readiness for adoption."
