This achievement was accomplished by transforming an entire mountain peak at an altitude of 1,737.5 meters into a digital media display, setting a new world record for the highest-altitude permanent projection mapping using natural topography. It is recognized as the world’s first case of using a natural landscape as a permanent digital canvas, moving beyond traditional building-based media facades.
Guinness World Records awarded an official certificate for "The Highest Altitude Natural Feature Projection Mapping Display - Permanent" to the project, which was carried out by 3D Factory Korea and its Saudi subsidiary Vision Plus (locally known as Ruyah Faidah). The attempt to utilize the natural landscape itself as a permanent digital canvas has attracted attention from the global out-of-home (OOH) media industry.
The company has secured Al-Hada Mountain as a long-term media asset through an exclusive 10-year operational agreement with the Taif Municipal Government. Taif, where the project was implemented, is a highland city near the Islamic holy city of Mecca. It is a major tourist destination, attracting millions of Muslim pilgrims each year, and serves as a traditional resort area for the Saudi royal family.
The official launching ceremony was held on April 22, 2026 (local time) in the Grand Ballroom of the Intercontinental Hotel Taif, Saudi Arabia. The event was attended by over 100 participants, including Taif Mayor Abdullah Al-Zaidi, Royal Prince Faisal Bin Saad Al Saud, representatives from the Saudi central government and the royal family, as well as private sector partners. During the ceremony, a large-scale projection mapping display was broadcast live on the entire Al-Hada Mountain, and the official Guinness World Records certificate was presented.
Byungki Oh, CEO of 3D Factory Korea and Vision Plus, stated, "This Guinness recognition marks the first permanent landmark combining K-tech and Saudi urban development. It is more than just a technological achievement; it is a new urban media model that transforms natural terrain into urban infrastructure assets." He further emphasized, "By blending the natural scenery of Al-Hada with the regional identity of Taif, this project directly aligns with the Saudi Kingdom’s 'Saudi Vision 2030' strategy to diversify its tourism and entertainment sectors."
Taif Mayor Abdullah Al-Zaidi commented, "The Al-Hada Mountain Media Facade is a key pillar of Taif’s ongoing tourism infrastructure advancement projects and will become a landmark representing Taif, as well as one of Saudi Arabia’s signature tourism attractions in the future."
