Unfavorable Public Opinion Prevails on Cho Kuk and Han Donghoon's By-election Bids
President Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party of Korea are maintaining their highest approval ratings since the current administration took office. Public opinion regarding Cho Kuk, leader of the Innovation Party, and Han Dong-hoon, former leader of the People Power Party, running in the parliamentary by-elections was found to be unfavorable.
According to a regular public opinion poll released by Gallup Korea on the 24th (conducted from the 21st to 23rd among 1,001 adults aged 18 or older nationwide, via random sampling of virtual mobile phone numbers and telephone interviews, with a sampling error of ±3.1 percentage points at the 95% confidence level and a response rate of 14.7%), President Lee's job approval rating rose by 1 percentage point from last week to 67%. This marks the highest figure since he took office, matching previous highs recorded in the third week of March and the first and second weeks of April. The negative evaluation fell by 1 percentage point from last week to 25%.

Support for the People Power Party rose by 1 percentage point to 20%. The Innovation Party and the Reform New Party each recorded 2%, while the Progressive Party recorded 1%.
Regarding the parliamentary by-elections to be held concurrently with the June 3 local elections, public opinion on Cho Kuk, who is contesting in Pyeongtaek-e, Gyeonggi Province, and Han Dong-hoon, who is running in Buk-gap, Busan, was negative.
On Cho Kuk's candidacy, 28% viewed it positively, 38% viewed it negatively, and 34% were undecided. Regarding Han Dong-hoon's candidacy, 23% viewed it positively, 49% viewed it negatively, and 28% were undecided.
