In particular, the focus was on strengthening coaching capabilities that can be immediately applied in the field by the support team.
More than 60 'mentors' from local education support offices and schools participated in the training, which included practical content to assist new public officials with the initial burden of their work and adapting to organizational culture. The program covered understanding the role of a 'mentor' and coaching strategies, leadership as seen through classical music, and sharing region-specific cases of instruction and advice.
In addition, the mentors exchanged ideas to share differences in administrative environments and support methods by region, and discussed establishing a flexible, customized guidance and advisory system based on these insights.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education regards guidance and advice (mentoring) for new public officials as a sustainable growth system. Since 2025, it has been implemented at 25 local education support offices, and the office plans to continue supporting the 'Mentor Group' so that it can serve not just as senior colleagues but also as key personnel leading learning and communication within the organization.
Soh Byungyeop, Director of Administrative Competency at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, stated, "The role of senior public officials is important for helping new officials adapt to the organization in a stable way," adding, "We will strengthen the capabilities of the 'Mentor Group' through training that reflects on-site experience and feedback."
