Gwangju City Accelerates Construction of Sinhyeon-dong Deicing Material Storage Warehouse After Forest Land Conversion Approval
Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province has initiated the construction of snow removal infrastructure to address the issue of road icing in the Sinhyeon-dong area during winter.
The city announced on April 23 that it had received final approval on April 21 from the Suwon National Forest Management Office of the Korea Forest Service for forest land conversion to build a deicing material storage warehouse in the area of San 92, Sinhyeon-dong.
This project is being promoted to resolve the recurring delays in snow removal response on the steep roads of Taejaegogae and the Sinhyeon-dong area during periods of heavy snowfall in winter. The city plans to invest 450 million won from the Disaster Management Fund to establish a facility that can store deicing materials at all times.
The project schedule includes completing the design service in May, starting construction in June, and aiming for completion by October, before the onset of winter.
Once the warehouse is completed, it is expected that the travel routes for snow removal vehicles will be shortened, allowing for a prompt initial response even during sudden snowfalls. In particular, snow removal efficiency is anticipated to improve in the Taejaegogae section, which experiences heavy traffic and steep gradients.
