On April 22, SK Telecom announced that it has released details of its collaboration with NVIDIA on artificial intelligence (AI) model development and is set to strengthen its partnership framework.

On April 21, at the "NVIDIA NeMoTron Developer Days Seoul 2026," SK Telecom unveiled the achievements of its technological cooperation with NVIDIA in the field of AI model development.

SK Telecom also introduced plans for collaboration to foster the domestic sovereign AI ecosystem, including the development of A.X K2 (AidotX K2), the successor to A.X K1 (AidotX K1), which was launched through the "Independent AI Foundation Model (Dokpamo) Project."

The two companies have been cooperating across data, infrastructure, and learning environments since the construction phase of "Titan," the A100 GPU-based supercomputer unveiled by SK Telecom in 2021. In particular, last year, while carrying out the government’s Dokpamo Project, SK Telecom adopted the NVIDIA NeMoTron dataset to train AidotX K1, a large-scale model with 519 billion (519B) parameters.

During this process, SK Telecom and NVIDIA used Megatron-LM, a large-scale model distributed training framework, and NVIDIA NeMo Curator, which is used for preparing and refining training data, thereby enhancing the stability of large-scale AI training.

SK Telecom is currently utilizing NVIDIA’s solutions to train the successor model, AidotX K2, and plans to continue active joint research in areas such as multimodal and vision-language models (VLMs) that will be incorporated into future models.

Tae Yoon Kim, Head of Foundation Models at SK Telecom, stated, "SK Telecom and NVIDIA have proactively applied new technologies and have grown together through mutual feedback," adding, "Through this partnership, we will jointly contribute to the development of the domestic AI ecosystem."
