Gangseo District Expands Domestic Support for Pregnant Women to 10 Sessions
From Cleaning and Laundry to Hospital Accompaniment... Only 7,000 Won on Weekdays
Gangseo District in Seoul (District Mayor Jin Kyohun) will significantly increase the number of domestic support service sessions for pregnant women from the previous six to ten sessions. Gangseo District is expanding the implementation of its "Domestic Support Service for Pregnant Women" to reduce the domestic workload for pregnant women and support healthy childbirth.
This welfare program provides basic domestic services such as cleaning, laundry, and dishwashing, as well as hospital accompaniment, to pregnant women before childbirth. The program is available to approximately 222 pregnant women registered as residents of Gangseo District, and applications are accepted regardless of income level.
Selected applicants can receive the service up to ten times, with each session lasting four hours (including a 30-minute break). If the hospital accompaniment service is used, it is counted as one session.
The standard daily fee is around 80,000 won, but eligible participants only need to pay 7,000 won on weekdays and 8,000 won on Saturdays. Recipients of basic livelihood security, individuals in the lower income bracket, and single-parent families can use the service free of charge by submitting the required supporting documents.
Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until October 30, and any remaining sessions after the application period can be used until the end of December. Applicants can visit their local community center or apply online through the Government24 website (plus.gov.kr). However, duplicate applications with the Seoul-type domestic service or the single-parent family domestic service are not allowed.
Starting this year, the district will mandate privacy protection and customer satisfaction training for domestic managers, and will strengthen on-site guidance and inspections of service providers to systematically manage service quality.
