Capture Hidden Scenery in a Single Shot... Gijang County Tourism Photo Contest Opens
Focusing on "Gijang’s Eight Scenic Spots and Night Views"
Traveling Exhibition of Award-Winning Works Also Planned
Gijang County (Governor Jeong Jongbok) will hold the '3rd Gijang County Tourism Photo Contest' to discover the hidden charms of the region and promote them widely. In addition, a traveling exhibition of previous award-winning works will also be held.
This year’s contest focuses on two themes: 'The Magnificent Scenery of Gijang’s Eight Scenic Spots' and 'Brilliant Night Views Blending the Sea and the City.' While previous contests captured Gijang’s overall landscape, this year’s focus is on uncovering hidden and unfamiliar beauties within familiar scenery, aiming to document Gijang’s unique allure.
The contest is open to digital photographs featuring the Eight Scenic Spots of Gijang—Dareumsan Mountain, Jukdo Island, Ilgwang and Imrang Beaches, Jangansa Valley, Hongyeon Waterfall, Sohakdae, and Sirangdae—as well as the county’s nightscapes. Only works taken personally after January 2025 are eligible. Photos taken by drone are not permitted.
Anyone interested in Gijang County, regardless of age or residence, may participate, with a limit of one entry per person. Winning works will be used as promotional content for Gijang’s tourism and will be released through various media and exhibitions.
Entries will be accepted from June 1 to July 24, and detailed information can be found by searching for 'tourism photo' on the 'Notice/Announcement' section of the Gijang County Office website.
Prior to the contest, a traveling exhibition showcasing the award-winning works from the first and second contests will be held. The exhibition will feature 20 outstanding pieces that vividly present the nature and scenery of Gijang.
The exhibition will take place at Gijang Station from April 17 to 26, and then continue at the Andersen Story House from April 27 to May 8.
Jeong Jongbok, Governor of Gijang County, stated, "A single photo that captures a moment holds tremendous promotional power," adding, "I hope this contest will help reveal Gijang’s hidden beauties and further elevate its tourism value."
