Gyeonggi Agency to Train 500 Bio Professionals... Partners with Universities and Hospitals
The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency is strengthening its collaboration with associations, medical institutions, and universities to foster customized professionals in the bio sector.
On April 14, at the Suwon Gwanggyo Bio Center, the agency signed a memorandum of understanding to promote the '2026 Gyeonggi-do Bio Talent Training Project' with the Korea Bio Association, Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, Sungkyunkwan University, Dongguk University (Ilsan), and Eulji University (Uijeongbu).
This agreement was initiated to address the demand for AI and big data-based technologies required for the digital transformation of the bio industry and the advanced bio sector, and to systematically train professionals with a focus on industry practice.
In particular, the partnership aims to resolve the imbalance in the supply and demand of talent by operating educational programs that reflect the job competencies required by companies. The goal is to bridge the gap between education and recruitment, establishing a system to supply practical talent.
Under the agreement, the agency will provide the 'GG Biohub Edu Station,' equipped with 24 types and 38 units of training equipment, as an education hub. Participating institutions will operate tailored bio training programs based on future technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data.

In addition, the educational system has been expanded to include the green bio industry and the AI-Bio convergence sector to respond to changes in the industry. Accordingly, field-based training and project-based education have been strengthened.
Through this project, the agency plans to train a total of 500 bio professionals—including 120 job seekers (or soon-to-be job seekers) and 380 current employees—to address manpower shortages in the bio industry and meet the demand for digital transformation.
