Alt-A Appoints Former Hyundai Motor 'Smart City Expert' Tae-rin Kim as CTO
Advancing AI-Based Transportation Infrastructure and Last-Mile Data Business
Alt-A announced on April 8 that it has appointed Dr. Tae-rin Kim, an urban engineering expert and former lead researcher at Hyundai Motor Company’s Corporate Planning & Coordination Division, as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
With this appointment, Alt-A aims to enhance its capabilities in developing next-generation transportation and smart city infrastructure technologies utilizing artificial intelligence, while also strengthening its core growth engine—its last-mile transportation data business.
The newly appointed CTO, Kim, is recognized as an expert in smart city and future transportation systems, having worked at the Seoul Institute, Hyundai Motor Company, and the global engineering consulting firm Stantec. He has extensive experience across policy, industry, and global strategy.
While at Hyundai Motor Company, he played a crucial role in planning and establishing Motional, an autonomous driving joint venture that attracted approximately KRW 2.4 trillion in overseas investment. At Stantec, he analyzed the feasibility and economic viability of U.S. government transportation projects and successfully collaborated with major national institutions—including the White House and the Saudi Royal Family—as well as global companies such as Uber and Saudi Aramco. As a result, he is regarded as a hands-on leader with experience in building mobility ecosystems across both the private and public sectors.
Alt-A plans to leverage Kim’s appointment to further refine its next-generation last-mile transportation infrastructure solutions and to focus its capabilities on realizing a data-driven smart city vision.
