The Cultural Heritage Administration will hold the "2026 Youth World Heritage Guardians" inauguration ceremony at 3 p.m. on April 7 at the auditorium of the National Palace Museum of Korea annex.

This program enables young people to creatively engage in various activities to protect World Heritage sites. It began in 2011 and marks its 16th year in 2026. A total of 30 teams, comprising 120 participants selected through a screening process, will carry out activities over the course of one year.

The participants will conduct monitoring and environmental clean-up activities focused on World Documentary Heritage such as the Jikji Simche Yojeol and Hunminjeongeum Haerye, as well as World Heritage sites including the Baekje Historic Areas and Hwaseong Haenggung. They will also be responsible for planning and producing promotional content that captures the sensibilities of Millennials & Gen Z, and for developing educational kits.

This year, six teams composed exclusively of international students have attracted attention. These young people, who were inspired by Korean culture and applied voluntarily, will promote the value of K-Heritage to the world.

A Cultural Heritage Administration official said, "At the end of the year, we plan to hold a competition for outstanding teams and present awards such as the Administrator's Award of the Cultural Heritage Administration."
