Yook Donghan, a preliminary candidate for Chuncheon mayor, met with officials from the Chuncheon branch of the Korea Employment Services Association in Gangwon Province on the 6th, following a request from Kwon Iljin, head of Chuncheon Workforce. During the meeting, he listened to the employment conditions of local construction workers and the difficulties they face at job sites.

Participants discussed the hardships local construction workers are experiencing due to the recent economic downturn and contraction in the construction sector. They shared the view that prioritizing the employment of local construction workers in public construction projects commissioned by Chuncheon City needs to be implemented more effectively. They also emphasized that both on-site workers and the administration should work together to revitalize the local labor market and expand job opportunities.
Candidate Yook agreed that the construction industry downturn is directly affecting the livelihoods of ordinary citizens and the local economy. He stated that it is necessary to pay closer attention to the voices of those working on the ground. He particularly stressed the importance of ensuring that the purpose and operation of systems are realized in practice so that more job opportunities in the region are given to local residents.
Candidate Yook said, "I was once again reminded of how significant the hardships are for local construction workers in the face of difficult economic conditions. I will listen seriously to the voices of those sweating on the job site and examine more deeply the issues of protecting citizens' livelihoods and jobs."
He added, "Ultimately, people's livelihoods begin in the field. I will make sure not to overlook even the smallest voices and always listen with humility so that those working locally can receive fair opportunities."
