Hanwha Group announced that, through the “2026 Clean School Initiative,” it has completed support for eco-friendly care classrooms and solar power generation facilities at six elementary schools nationwide, and held a commemorative ceremony on April 1 at Jingyo Elementary School in Hadong, Gyeongsangnam-do.

The event was attended by Insub Jung, President of Hanwha Aerospace; Heecheol Jeong, Principal of Jingyo Elementary School; Seungcheol Ha, Hadong County Governor; Minae Lee, Superintendent of Hadong Office of Education; and Yeol Choi, Chairman of the Environmental Foundation. Participants toured the care classrooms established through the project and listened to the school’s feedback.

The “Clean School Initiative” is Hanwha Group’s flagship eco-friendly social contribution program, launched in 2022, which aims to create eco-friendly learning spaces for elementary schools across the country.

This year, support was provided to a total of six schools: Jingyo Elementary School in Hadong, Gyeongsangnam-do; Toseong Elementary School in Seoul; Yeonmu Elementary School in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do; Sanseong Elementary School in Daejeon; Yeonmu Elementary School in Nonsan, Chungcheongnam-do; and Yeonggang Elementary School in Naju, Jeollanam-do. Approximately 100 million won was invested per school. As a result, about 16,000 students at 27 elementary schools nationwide have been able to enjoy a more comfortable educational environment to date.

This year’s project reflects the government’s policy to strengthen after-school care and the needs of schools by introducing the eco-friendly care classroom “Clean Spring Zone” and enhancing related education. For outdated classrooms, indoor green walls, window-type ventilation systems, and eco-friendly interior materials were installed, creating customized spaces for each school’s unique characteristics.

In addition, each school was equipped with solar power generation facilities and electricity monitoring systems, allowing them to independently supply the electricity needed to operate the “Clean Spring Zone.”

Park Hyunsin, Principal of Yeonmu Elementary School in Nonsan, said, “The students are very satisfied with the newly created spaces, and it is especially meaningful from an educational perspective that these spaces reflect the students’ imagination.”

President Insub Jung stated, “The Clean School Initiative is more than just providing eco-friendly facilities; it is a promise for a sustainable future. We will continue to support children so they can nurture their dreams in better environments.”
