Changwon Special City Signs Agreement for Environmental Education Social Integration Program for Foreign Residents
On March 31, Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province signed a business agreement with the Changwon National University Multicultural Promotion Center and the Gyeongnam Green Environment Support Center to operate a social integration program on environmental education tailored to foreigners.
This agreement was established to systematically implement the environmental education component of the Social Integration Program (KIIP), which was approved by the Ministry of Justice in February, and to enhance the quality of environmental education provided to foreigners.

Under the agreement, Changwon City will support and establish a cooperative system for the environmental education program. The Changwon National University Multicultural Promotion Center will be responsible for recruiting foreign participants and managing the education process. The Gyeongnam Green Environment Support Center will develop the environmental education program and provide professional instructors. Each organization will leverage its expertise to implement effective educational initiatives.
The social integration program on environmental education will be conducted from April to October, targeting approximately 400 individuals, including international students, language school students, and foreign workers.
Through this initiative, foreign residents will be supported in understanding the importance of environmental conservation as members of the local community, and in participating in practical actions such as carbon neutrality and resource circulation in their daily lives.
Changwon City plans to use this agreement as an opportunity to enhance accessibility to environmental education for foreign residents and to expand a customized environmental education platform suitable for a multicultural society.
Furthermore, based on the partnership between local government and academia, the city will continue to develop and operate a variety of educational programs to help foreign residents settle stably into the community and actively participate in environmental values as citizens of Changwon Special City.
