Upon receiving the report, fire authorities dispatched 15 fire trucks and 45 firefighters to extinguish the blaze.
So far, there have been no reported casualties, but authorities expect it will take some time to fully put out the fire due to the large amount of waste piled up in the yard.
However, since only waste is burning, there is reportedly no risk of the flames spreading to the nearby hills.
Fire and police authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage as soon as the fire has been extinguished.
