Kia EV9 GT Outperforms Volvo EX90 in German Electric Vehicle Comparison Test
Auto Bild Praises Body, Powertrain, and Economic Efficiency

Kia's flagship electrified sports utility vehicle (SUV), the EV9 GT, has demonstrated its outstanding product competitiveness by outperforming Volvo's EX90 in an electric vehicle comparison test conducted by a leading German automotive media outlet.
According to the industry on March 25, the latest issue of the German magazine "Auto Bild" conducted a comparative evaluation between the Kia EV9 GT and the Volvo EX90 Twin Motor AWD across seven categories: body, convenience, powertrain, driving performance, connectivity, eco-friendliness, and economic efficiency.
The EV9 GT earned high scores in major categories such as body, powertrain, and economic efficiency, achieving a total of 583 points and surpassing the EX90, which scored 565 points, by a margin of 18 points. This marks a victory for a domestically produced high-performance electric vehicle in terms of performance and value, even against Volvo's top-tier premium electric model.
Kia previously proved its excellence in May of last year, when the "EV9 GT Line (AWD)" also outperformed the Volvo EX90 Twin Motor AWD in an Auto Bild comparison evaluation.
Auto Bild highlighted the EV9 GT's space utilization, remarking that "it clearly leads in trunk space." The magazine further praised, "The maximum cargo capacity of up to 2,393 liters when both the second- and third-row seats are folded is made highly efficient thanks to the boxy design, and the frunk configuration is more practical than Volvo's."
In the powertrain category, the EV9 GT outperformed the EX90 by scoring 97 points, thanks to its powerful motor output of 508 horsepower and ultra-fast charging technology based on an 800V high-voltage system.
The EV9 GT also received high marks for economic efficiency, earning 62 points—17 points higher than the EX90, which scored 45—thanks to its reasonable pricing and superior warranty conditions, thereby demonstrating its value advantage.
A Kia representative stated, "The EV9 GT, which embodies both high performance and premium value, is a culmination of Kia's electrification philosophy. Based on its differentiated design and outstanding electrification technology, we will continue to lead the global electric vehicle market."

Meanwhile, the EV9 has proven its world-class competitiveness in all aspects, including design, performance, and safety, by winning two out of the three most prestigious global automotive awards: '2024 World Car of the Year' and the utility category of '2024 North American Car of the Year.'
