Global Flagship Brand 'Banyan Tree Busan Haeundae' Launches Korea's First Members-Only Resort
Set to Open This October at Yeonhwa Beach, Gijang-gun
'Banyan Tree Busan Haeundae,' which is being constructed at Yeonhwa Beach in Gijang-gun, Busan, is currently under construction with the goal of opening in the second half of this year. This will mark the arrival of a global hotel brand—specifically its 'flagship' brand—establishing its first members-only resort hotel in Korea.
The developer, Lufentis, stated that construction is proceeding according to schedule after normalization of the project, noting that Ssangyong Engineering & Construction joined the project earlier this year, helping it get back on track. On-site, both process management and safety management systems are being implemented step by step.
A Lufentis representative said, "We are preparing for both construction and operations simultaneously," adding, "We plan to complete construction stably with the goal of opening in 2026."
This is the first members-only resort hotel in Korea to be introduced under Banyan Group’s top flagship brand, Banyan Tree. Banyan Group is a global luxury brand that operates 91 properties with approximately 10,800 rooms across 23 countries worldwide. In Korea, 'Banyan Tree Club & Spa Seoul' is already in operation, and recently, the Cassia and Home brands have also been introduced.
This project is unfolding in the Yeonhwa Beach area of the Gijang Osiria Tourism Complex. The brand, known for operating globally recognized waterfront resorts such as 'Banyan Tree Lang Co' and 'Buahan Banyan Tree Escape,' is entering the Korean resort market for the first time, drawing keen attention from the travel and resort industry.
The total scale is 195 rooms, consisting of 179 tower-type and penthouse units and 16 standalone beachfront villa units. All rooms feature ocean views overlooking the East Sea at Gijang, private terraces, and private pools. The property is designed with a terraced layout that leverages the natural terrain, providing unobstructed views of the horizon. The independent structure, which blocks views from adjacent rooms and the outside, allows for a private resort experience without shared spaces. Guests can choose from a variety of room types—including suites, villas, and penthouses—according to their needs.
The dining facilities will center around Banyan Tree's global signature concepts. The Thai fine-dining restaurant 'Saffron,' which originated at Banyan Tree Phuket, will be introduced in Korea for the first time. The modern Western dining 'Vertigo,' another signature that began at Banyan Tree Bangkok, will also make its Korean debut. These spaces will be created to allow guests to dine with views of the East Sea horizon and the Yeonhwabong landscape as a backdrop.
In addition, a total of six dining venues will be operated, including the all-day dining 'Olea,' bakery 'Krust,' seafood market, and the beachfront 'Rias Pool Bar.'
The property will also feature wellness facilities. The award-winning Banyan Tree Spa, based on its 'Sanctuary for the Senses' philosophy, will be staffed by experts trained at the headquarters. The facilities will include the Rias Infinity Pool inspired by the Gijang coastline, a sky thalasso pool utilizing both seawater and freshwater, an indoor pool, and a sauna.
Banyan Tree will directly manage hotel operations, with all services and facility management adhering to global hotel standards. Members will enjoy benefits not only at Banyan Tree Busan Haeundae but also across Banyan Tree's network of 115 properties in 29 countries worldwide. Membership also includes access to overseas golf courses such as Phuket in Thailand, Da Nang in Vietnam, and Bintan Laguna Country Club in Indonesia.
