Aliexpress Conducts Safety Inspections on 136 Spring Overseas Purchase Products, Blocks Sale of 18 Non-Compliant Items
Inspection of School Supplies, Toys, and Clothing... 87% Meet Standards
Collaboration with Importers Association and Testing Agencies... Strengthening Proactive Safety Management
Aliexpress announced on March 24 that it will conduct a preemptive safety inspection, in cooperation with the Korea Importers Association, targeting categories with rising demand for overseas direct purchases during the spring season.
This initiative was launched to enhance the management standards for overseas direct purchase products and to strengthen the safety of items sold on the platform. The inspection covers 136 products with high seasonal demand, including children's school supplies and toys, back-to-school items, and transitional weather clothing.
The inspection was carried out by seven accredited domestic testing and inspection agencies (KTR, KCL, KTC, KATRI, KOTITI, FITI, SGS), which comprehensively checked for physical safety and the presence of hazardous substances.
As a result, 118 products, accounting for approximately 87% of the total, met domestic standards, while the remaining 18 products fell short and were immediately removed from sale. In addition, measures were taken within the platform to prevent re-registration of these same products.
This inspection is based on a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by both parties in September 2024, with the aim of continuously improving the product management system through collaboration with private associations and testing agencies.
A representative of Aliexpress stated, "As an overseas direct purchase platform that customers can trust, we recognize our responsibility to ensure product safety on behalf of consumers. Through our partnership with the Korea Importers Association, we will proactively conduct safety inspections on key seasonal products and continue to strengthen our product management standards to offer a safer shopping environment."
