K-Documentaries Debut on New York Screens... KOCCA Explores Entry into North American Market
"Coca Spotlight" Held on March 19-20
Screenings of "Goddess Era" and "The Philosopher's Cuisine" in New York
The Korea Creative Content Agency New York Business Center held the K-Documentary screening event "Coca Spotlight" at the New York Korea Center in the United States over two days, March 19 and 20, 2026. The event invited more than 300 people, including local content industry professionals and general audiences, to explore the potential for Korean documentaries to enter the North American market.
The documentaries screened were two works supported by the Korea Creative Content Agency, which enhanced their overall quality. On the first day, "Goddess Era," directed by Moon Seungwook and Yoo Yejin, was featured. This work highlights female leadership through Korean traditional mythology and is a hybrid format combining documentary, animation, and projection mapping. It received the Silver Award at the 2024 Houston International Film Festival.
On the second day, "The Philosopher's Cuisine," which delves into the philosophical roots of K-food, was released. The documentary follows the daily life and philosophy of Master Monk Jeonggwan, a master of temple cuisine, conveying the depth and value of Korean Buddhist culture.
