Winning Entries to Be Exhibited at UNESCO World Heritage Committee in July
The National Heritage Administration announced on March 24 that it will hold a competition to promote modern and contemporary architectural cultural heritage, targeting undergraduate and graduate students.
This competition aims to discover creative ideas for the preservation and utilization of modern and contemporary buildings that remain in our living spaces, from the opening of ports period through industrialization. Under the theme "Memory and Heritage of the City, and Its Future," participants are invited to reinterpret specific cultural heritage sites.
Participants must choose either the Yeonghae Market Street Modern Historical and Cultural District in Yeongdeok or Busan Port Pier 1 and submit their project proposals online. Individuals or teams of up to three members may participate, and the registration period is one month, from March 30 to April 30.

The National Heritage Administration will award a grand prize (Director-General's Award, with prize money of 5 million won) to one team and two excellence prizes to other teams, with a total prize pool of 14 million won. The winning entries will be exhibited as a special showcase at the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, to be held at BEXCO in Busan in July.
