Ministry of Health and Welfare Discusses MOU on Healthcare Cooperation
The government will assist in the rehabilitation of Ukrainian war casualties and veterans, as well as help restore the local healthcare system.

View original imageThe Ministry of Health and Welfare announced on March 19 that Lee Hyun-hoon, Second Vice Minister, discussed measures for healthcare cooperation, including these issues, with Yevhenii Honchar, Vice Minister of Health of Ukraine, at T Tower in Jung-gu, Seoul. The Ukrainian delegation visited Korea to attend "Medical Korea 2026," an event that shares the latest trends and knowledge in global healthcare.
On this day, the vice ministers of both countries discussed key healthcare topics, including: ▲ signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on healthcare cooperation ▲ collaboration for training Ukrainian medical professionals in rehabilitation medicine in Korea ▲ trauma management for war casualties and veterans using digital solutions.
Vice Minister Yevhenii Honchar requested ▲ exchanges regarding Korea's veterans healthcare system and experience ▲ participation of Korean organizations in international medical partnerships with Ukraine ▲ continued cooperation with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). During his visit, he plans to visit Osstem Implant and KOICA.
On March 20, a business roundtable will be held, attended by both governments and private companies, to discuss ways to cooperate in healthcare based on local medical needs for Ukraine's healthcare reconstruction.
In addition to Vice Minister Yevhenii Honchar, Ukrainian medical device company Forvardmed and orthopedic implant company HB Orto will participate. From Korea, companies specializing in orthopedic and dental medical devices, including Osstem Implant, Vatech, and H Robotics, will attend to explore collaboration opportunities in Ukraine's healthcare reconstruction, and hold a Q&A session regarding their entry into the Ukrainian market with local healthcare representatives.
Second Vice Minister Lee stated, "As Korea is a country that has achieved growth after overcoming the hardships of war, Korea's experience in operating the National Trauma Center and various medical training programs will be helpful for managing the health of Ukrainian war casualties and veterans, and for implementing training programs for medical professionals."
