"Expanding Entry into the Global Aircraft Supply Chain"... Korea Aerospace Administration Accelerates Cooperation with Brazil
Visit to Embraer and Meetings with Government Agencies
Discussion on Expanding Participation of Korean Companies
Government-level cooperation to expand the entry of Korean aerospace companies into the global aircraft manufacturing supply chain is gaining momentum. With the collaboration established with Embraer, Brazil's leading aircraft manufacturer, there are growing prospects for domestic companies to participate more actively in areas such as airframe production and urban air mobility (UAM).
The Korea Aerospace Administration announced on March 19 that it had dispatched a public-private delegation comprised of representatives from corporations and the government to Brazil starting March 16 to discuss ways to expand cooperation in the aviation industry. This dispatch is a follow-up measure to the consensus reached at the Korea-Brazil summit in February regarding the need for cooperation in the aviation sector.

The delegation visited the headquarters and production facilities of Embraer in São Paulo state, Brazil, to discuss ways to strengthen collaboration between companies from both countries. Embraer is a global aircraft manufacturer producing commercial, military, and business aircraft, and ranks third in the world in competitiveness after Airbus and Boeing.
In particular, Embraer plans to supply its KC390 military transport aircraft to Korea, and several domestic companies are already participating in the production of its flagship models such as the E-Jet E2. The delegation agreed to continue pursuing not only ways to expand the participation of Korean companies in the aircraft manufacturing process, but also joint research and development (R&D) to improve airframe productivity and cooperation in the field of urban air mobility (UAM).
Embraer Chief Strategy Officer Dimas Douglas Tomelin stated, "Korea is an important partner for expanding into the Asian market," adding, "We look forward to even greater collaboration in the future."
Expansion of Intergovernmental Cooperation... Strengthening Industrial Networks
The delegation also held meetings with major government agencies including the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC) and the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) of Brazil, discussing policies for fostering the aviation industry and ways to enhance exchanges and cooperation.
In addition, the delegation exchanged opinions with the Brazilian Association of Aerospace Industries (AIAB) on strengthening the cooperative network between aviation manufacturers from both countries and revitalizing exchanges within the industry.
