A Taste of Kings Yeongjo and Sukjong... Saenggwabang at Gyeongbokgung Palace Opens April 8
Two New Dessert Sets Inspired by Royal Dining Habits
Lottery Applications Open on Ticket Link Starting March 20
An event where visitors can taste royal delicacies from the Joseon Dynasty will resume on April 8.
The Cultural Heritage Administration and the Korea Heritage Service announced on March 18 that the first half of this year's 'Saenggwabang' program will run until May 27.
This is a hands-on experience held inside Gyeongbokgung Palace, where participants can enjoy six types of traditional sweets and one type of medicinal tea. This year, two new dessert sets reflecting the dining habits of the kings will be introduced. One is modeled after King Yeongjo's simple table, featuring medicinal tea and traditional Korean sweets for revitalization; the other recreates King Sukjong's banquet-style table, with colorful fruit jelly and juak (sweet rice fritters) to evoke a festive atmosphere.
On five occasions during the program (April 20, and May 5, 8, 15, and 24), special events will be held featuring Korean traditional music performances.
Tickets will be sold by lottery to ensure fairness. Applications will be accepted on Ticket Link from 2 p.m. on March 20 to March 26, and the winners will be announced on March 30 via the Korea Heritage Service website.
