Seoul to Offer Customized Rental Contract Education for Youth...Preventing Jeonse Fraud
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on March 17 that it will hold the "2026 Customized Real Estate Education for Youth" program to help young people properly understand the procedures for monthly and jeonse rental contracts and alleviate housing insecurity.
This education session will take place at 7 p.m. on March 31 in the main conference room on the 3rd floor of Seoul City Hall. The city plans to provide practical education focusing on key checklist items and methods for preventing jeonse fraud.
The customized real estate education for youth received a strong response last year, with approximately 650 participants across four sessions and a satisfaction rate of 98%. Notably, 86.3% of participants were young people in their 20s and 30s, confirming high demand for practical, contract-related training among youth. Reflecting this demand, this year’s program will further specialize its content and strengthen on-site, practical education.
In addition to theoretical instruction, the city will offer "one-on-one tailored consultations for monthly and jeonse rentals" to interested applicants. Through these consultations, participants will receive personalized guidance on reviewing contracts, utilizing housing support policies, and other concerns young people may face during actual real estate transactions.
The main curriculum will cover key checklist items for each stage of the monthly and jeonse rental contract process—before, during, and after signing—as well as information on youth housing support policies.
The city plans to continue offering customized education reflecting youth demand in July, September, and November this year to help prevent anxiety and damages that may arise during the rental contract process.
