Barun Law LLC announced on the 16th that it has recruited Jongwon Choi, former presiding judge at the Suwon High Court (Judicial Research and Training Institute, 33rd class), Seokhyun Hong, former presiding judge at the Geochang Branch of the Changwon District Court (38th class), lawyer Mijeong Kim, formerly of the Financial Supervisory Service (35th class), and corporate compliance expert Eegyu Lee (1st bar examination).

View original imageAttorney Jongwon Choi began his career as a judge at the Gwangju District Court in 2007. After serving at various courts and as a professor at the Judicial Research and Training Institute, he concluded his 19-year judicial career as a presiding judge at the Suwon High Court before joining Barun Law LLC.
At the Judicial Research and Training Institute, he served as chief professor of criminal trial practice and contributed to the standardization of criminal trials as the team leader for the revision of the ‘Trial Work Guide (Criminal Edition),’ a reference for judges. At the Suwon High Court’s civil construction panel, he handled numerous major construction cases, including large-scale construction disputes and apartment construction defect litigation.
Attorney Seokhyun Hong was appointed as a judge at the Seoul Northern District Court in 2009 and served at various judicial levels, concluding his public service as the presiding judge at the Geochang Branch of the Changwon District Court. During his 17 years on the bench, he specialized in criminal law, presiding over criminal panels, appeals, single-judge trials, and warrant hearings for several years.
Attorney Mijeong Kim is a specialist in financial regulation and capital markets with 18 years of experience at NH Investment & Securities, the Financial Supervisory Service, and law firms. At the Financial Supervisory Service, she was in charge of inspections and sanctions advisory, litigation work, and disclosure regulation at the Asset Management Inspection Bureau, Legal Affairs Office, and Corporate Disclosure Bureau.
Attorney Eegyu Lee is an expert in compliance management for business groups, having overseen a broad range of practical compliance, governance, internal transactions, and whistleblowing investigations for seven major affiliates as part of the Samsung Compliance Committee.
