Gyeonggi Province Recruiting Bio Companies for Industry-Academia-Research Joint Research Program
The Gyeonggi Provincial Government is recruiting companies to participate in an industry-academia-research (including hospitals) joint research support project aimed at strengthening the technology development capabilities of bio companies in the province.
This program is designed to address the technical difficulties and on-site needs encountered by bio companies during the research and development process. Its key feature is supporting collaborative research among industry, academia, and research institutions (including hospitals), focusing on the demand technologies proposed by the companies themselves.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Government, through the Bioindustry Division of the Gyeonggi Institute of Science & Technology Promotion, will leverage its advanced research equipment and expert research staff to support companies’ R&D activities and assist with technology advancement.
Eligible applicants are bio companies within the province that are currently developing new drugs or bio products. At least one of their headquarters, research centers, or manufacturing facilities must be located in Gyeonggi Province.
Selected companies will receive up to 100 million won per company in R&D support funds and will conduct joint research with the Gyeonggi Institute of Science & Technology Promotion and partner research institutions. The research will focus on advancing the necessary technologies throughout the entire bio product development process, from candidate material discovery to product commercialization.
Since 2017, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government has provided research infrastructure to bio companies with relatively limited R&D capacity through this program, helping to ease their technology development burden.

Um Kiman, Director of the Bio Industry Division at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, said, "This program is a collaborative R&D initiative designed to help bio companies in the province secure the technologies they need during the R&D process and continue product development. Gyeonggi Province will continue to expand its support for R&D to strengthen the foundation for innovation in the bio industry and help companies achieve global competitiveness."
