Additional Base Stations Installed Around Gwanghwamun and City Hall Squares
Network Capacity Expanded... Automatic Control Solution Introduced

On March 15, KT announced that it will implement a "Network Intensive Management System" to provide stable telecommunications services in preparation for the BTS (Bangtan Boys) concert scheduled to take place at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul on March 21.

First, KT has deployed six mobile base stations and newly installed 79 wireless base stations and 14 Wi-Fi access points in the areas around Gwanghwamun Square and City Hall Square, where the concert will be held, significantly expanding the network's capacity. These measures are aimed at ensuring stable communication quality even in the event environment where large crowds are expected to gather.

On the day of the concert, KT will activate an emergency work system centered around the Gwacheon Network Control Center. The company will monitor two-way upload and download traffic in real time and respond immediately to any unexpected variables that may arise. In addition, more than 80 network specialists, including around 40 engineers, will be additionally deployed on site.

Furthermore, to prepare for a possible surge in wireless traffic due to SNS uploads or personal live streaming, KT will implement its AI-based automatic traffic control solution, "W-SDN". This solution monitors network traffic in real time and detects and analyzes signs of base station overload in advance, automatically controlling traffic within one minute. Through precise frequency equalization and base station output control, it supports stable network operations even during large-scale performances or events.

Additionally, KT stated that it has pre-secured expanded backbone network capacity, exceeding normal levels, in anticipation of increased high-definition and large-volume streaming traffic due to the global live broadcast. This will provide a seamless network environment not only for domestic viewers but also for international audiences to enjoy the concert without interruptions.

Tae-kyun Oh, Head of Network Operations and Innovation at KT (Senior Vice President), stated, "Providing stable telecommunications services in environments where traffic surges, such as large-scale concerts or global live broadcasts, is a core responsibility for telecom operators. We will continue to strengthen our response capabilities by leveraging AI-based network operation technologies to ensure stable network services anytime, anywhere."
