Kakao Mobility to Become a Physical AI Technology Company... CEO Keungseon Ryu: "Leading Future Mobility"
CEO Keungseon Ryu Shares Vision in Company-wide Letter
Kakao Mobility has presented its future goal of becoming a “physical AI-based technology company.”
On March 13, Kakao Mobility announced that CEO Keungseon Ryu had shared a letter with all employees on March 12, outlining the company’s vision of evolving into a future mobility company built on physical artificial intelligence (AI).
In the letter addressed to employees, CEO Ryu stated, “We will reinvent ourselves as a technology company leading the era of physical AI, responsible for all aspects of daily mobility.” He added, “We will secure technological sovereignty and compete on equal footing with global players to lead the future mobility market.”
CEO Ryu believes that Kakao Mobility’s physical AI strategy is not only the company’s direction but also a source of synergy with its existing businesses. He emphasized that the data and technology accumulated throughout the digital transformation (DX) across the mobility industry would become a competitive edge for physical AI.
In particular, he identified Kakao Mobility’s assets as including: ▲ data assets and quality systems ▲ map and road network data ▲ operational standardization capabilities ▲ hubs and operational infrastructure.
The company also revealed its plan to simultaneously enhance existing services and advance future technologies. CEO Ryu said, “Physical AI technology will combine with our existing services to create a virtuous cycle that boosts operational efficiency and revolutionizes service quality,” and continued, “We will build a powerful mobility ecosystem where technology and services are organically integrated.”
To achieve this, the company aims to internalize core technologies and secure technological self-reliance. CEO Ryu explained, “We plan to internalize the core technologies of physical AI and establish unrivaled technological competitiveness that covers everything from software (SW) to hardware (HW) control.” He added, “While we remain open to collaboration, we will not depend solely on external sources for our core capabilities and leadership. Instead, we will secure unique technological sovereignty optimized for our environment.”
Kakao Mobility plans to strengthen its execution-driven technology framework, which connects “demonstration–operation–expansion” to ensure that physical AI technology is validated and scaled in real-world service environments. The company will reinforce its leadership and reorganize its technology structure and mid- to long-term roadmap as part of this initiative.
