Yangju City to Launch Early Scrapping Subsidy Program for Old Vehicles... Support for 510 Units
For Grade 4 and 5 Vehicles and Old Construction Equipment
Applications Accepted from March 11 to April 3
Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province will implement a subsidy program in 2026 to support the early scrapping of old vehicles, aiming to improve air quality and reduce fine dust.
On March 10, the city announced that it would allocate a total project budget of 1,138.1 million won to provide early scrapping subsidies for vehicles with emission ratings of Grade 4 and 5, as well as old construction equipment.
The program will cover a total of 510 vehicles: 113 vehicles rated as emission Grade 5, 387 vehicles rated as Grade 4, and 10 pieces of construction equipment, including forklifts and excavators. The amount of support varies based on vehicle grade and gross weight. For vehicles weighing less than 3.5 tons, Grade 5 vehicles can receive up to 3 million won per unit, Grade 4 vehicles up to 8 million won per unit, and construction equipment such as forklifts and excavators can receive up to 120 million won per unit depending on their gross weight.
Eligible applicants are owners of diesel vehicles with emission ratings of Grade 4 or 5 whose registered place of use is Yangju City at the time of application. Grade 5 vehicles also include those powered by LPG and gasoline. Additionally, support is available for three types of road construction machinery (dump trucks, pump trucks, mixer trucks) subject to emission standards applied before August 31, 2009, as well as construction equipment (forklifts or excavators) manufactured under emission standards applied before December 31, 2004.
The application process involves submitting a request for early scrapping, confirmation of eligibility, proceeding with scrapping and applying for the subsidy, followed by document review and disbursement of the subsidy.
Applications will be accepted from March 11 to April 3, and each individual may apply for only one vehicle. If there are remaining funds or quotas after the initial application period, an additional announcement will be made in the second half of the year.
