Daejeon Yeonjeong Korean Traditional Music Orchestra Launches Regular "Saturday Gugak" Performances Starting in March
Every Second and Fourth Saturday from March to November
A Showcase of Tradition and Creativity
The Daejeon Yeonjeong Korean Traditional Music Orchestra's signature performance series, "Saturday Gugak," will be held a total of 15 times from March to November (excluding August) on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month at 2:00 p.m. at the Small Madang of the Daejeon Korean Traditional Music Center.
"Saturday Gugak" is a regular weekend performance designed to make traditional Korean music accessible and enjoyable for everyone, featuring a wide array of acts encompassing the essence of traditional gugak as well as original programs, including music (ak), song (ga), and dance (mu). Each year, audience numbers steadily increase, helping cement this performance as the orchestra's representative brand series.
The second Saturday of each month will showcase traditional Korean music in various genres, highlighting the unique artistic expressions of the Korean people. On the fourth Saturday, audiences can enjoy themed performances such as creative music, dance, theatrical arts, and vocal music, as well as works recognized by UNESCO as Korea's intangible cultural heritage, allowing them to experience the limitless potential and diversity of gugak.
Special events have also been prepared for attendees. If you collect stamps for each performance attended, you will receive a special gift from the orchestra when your attendance reaches 5, 10, and 15 times, respectively.
"Saturday Gugak" is a performance where you can experience the rich elegance and charm of Korean traditional arts, offering citizens a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the beauty and significance of gugak.
