Gokseong County in Jeollanam-do is set to invest 200 million won in national funding to launch a customized employment support program aimed at helping local young people who have given up on seeking jobs to re-enter society.

According to Gokseong County on March 4, the county was finally selected for the Ministry of Employment and Labor's "2026 Youth Challenge Support Project" and successfully secured more than 200 million won in national funding.

The purpose of this project is to provide tailored programs to young people who have given up on job seeking or are vulnerable in the labor market, helping them regain confidence and motivation to seek employment, and facilitating their smooth participation in the workforce. The county plans to form a consortium with the specialized implementing agency, the Future Industry Technology Promotion Institute, to roll out a robust youth-tailored program that reflects the unique characteristics of the local area.

The detailed programs will be carried out in six key areas at "Bibil Eondeok 25" located in Gokseong-eup: one-on-one counseling, case management, confidence building, career exploration, employment competency enhancement, and region-specific support.

The total number of participants to be recruited is 52. Depending on the duration of participation, the program will be divided into short-term (1 month) for 12 people, mid-term (3 months) for 26 people, and long-term (5 months) for 14 people. Young participants who complete the respective courses will receive participation allowances as well as additional completion incentives.

Eligible applicants are young people aged 18 to 35 who have not had any employment or educational training history for at least the past six months. However, for certain individuals classified as regionally specialized youth, the upper age limit has been significantly expanded to 49 years old.

An official from Gokseong County stated, "We hope this project will become a reliable stepping stone for young people experiencing deep frustration and difficulties in the job search process to get back on their feet," and emphasized, "We will ensure the program is operated systematically and effectively so that young people can boldly take on new challenges once again."
