President Go: "The Federation Will Accurately Identify the Challenges Facing Small-Scale Cooperatives"
The National Credit Union Federation of Korea announced on March 4 that Go Youngchul, the newly appointed president, began his first week in office by visiting rural and small member cooperatives, starting from his very first day on March 3.
This initiative aims to prioritize listening to the voices of rural and small-scale cooperatives, which face relatively challenging business conditions, and to clearly demonstrate his commitment to supporting their growth and normalizing financially distressed cooperatives.
Over the two days of March 3 and 4, President Go visited Hyangsu Credit Union in Okcheon, Chungbuk; Munui Credit Union and Cheongwon Credit Union in Cheongju; as well as Hanmaeum Credit Union in Taebaek, Hongcheon Credit Union, and Wonju Severance Credit Union in Gangwon Province.
He is also scheduled on March 5 to visit Bonghwa Credit Union, Yeongju Alchan Credit Union, Yecheon Hanil Credit Union, and Gimcheon Credit Union in North Gyeongsang Province, where he will hold meetings with cooperative staff to directly listen to on-site challenges and gather suggestions for institutional and support system improvements. President Go's official inauguration ceremony is set for March 6.
Based on the proposals collected during these visits, the National Credit Union Federation of Korea plans to develop tailored growth support measures for rural and small cooperatives, establish a support system for normalizing financially distressed cooperatives, and further advance field-oriented guidance and support initiatives, leading to concrete follow-up actions.
