Haman County Opens "Haman Youth Restaurant" for Local Seniors

On March 3, Haman County began operating the "Haman Youth Restaurant (Haman-style Sharing Senior Restaurant)" at the main senior centers in Kaya-eup, Haman-myeon, and Gunbuk-myeon, providing lunch to elderly residents.
The Haman Youth Restaurant was established to offer warm meals to senior citizens who are experiencing financial difficulties or living alone, thereby expanding opportunities for social interaction and helping to alleviate feelings of depression and isolation so that they can maintain a healthy life in old age.

View original imageThe restaurant operates during lunchtime from Monday to Friday each week. It is open to senior citizens aged 65 and over who have difficulty providing meals for themselves, and advance registration is required. The cost is 1,000 won per meal, but recipients of basic living support, those in the lower-income class, national merit recipients, and people with disabilities can use it free of charge.

The Haman Youth Restaurant is jointly operated by Haman County and the Haman County Branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association, with support from local organizations and companies such as the Haman Regional Self-Sufficiency Center, Haman Senior Club, and Arari Nongsan Co., Ltd. It is expected to spread a culture of community care and sharing throughout the region. The restaurant provides lunch to an average of 150 senior citizens per day in the Kaya, Haman, and Gunbuk areas, and there are plans to expand to other townships in the future.
