Responding to accelerating AI and AX... Sharing strategies to leap forward as a research-focused national flagship university
Discussing mid- to long-term development directions and implementation roadmap to enhance the university’s status
Gyeongsang National University (GNU, President Kwon Jinhoe) held a "Strategy Workshop for Strengthening Competitiveness to Enhance the University’s Status" at Paradise Hotel Busan from February 23 to 24, with university headquarters executives and the deans and vice deans of its colleges in attendance.
According to the Office of Planning at Gyeongsang National University (headed by Hwang Seun), the workshop was organized to share mid- to long-term development strategies for Gyeongsang National University to leap forward as a research-focused national flagship university representing the southeastern region and as a hub university for artificial intelligence (AI) and Artificial Transformation (AX) in an environment where AI and AX are rapidly accelerating, and to systematically strengthen global competitiveness across education, research, and industry-academia cooperation.

View original imageDuring the workshop, participants redefined the role of the university as a core national flagship university that will drive Korea’s competitiveness and balanced national development, and focused on discussions about strategies such as AI-based educational innovation, strengthening data-driven research competitiveness, and building an AX innovation ecosystem linked to local industries.
The Office of Planning presented the mid- to long-term development direction and implementation roadmap for Gyeongsang National University based on the sharing and analysis of university evaluation results, and shared measures to strengthen competitiveness across education, research, and industry-academia cooperation, with a focus on AI specialization and data-driven university management strategies.
In addition, through special lectures by external experts, the workshop introduced AI response strategies of leading global universities and best practices for enhancing university competitiveness based on data, and held in-depth discussions with participants on performance diffusion and implementation tasks.
Building on this workshop, Gyeongsang National University plans to accelerate AI- and AX-based innovation in education and research, and to strengthen the industry-academia cooperation ecosystem linked to regional industries, thereby establishing its status as an AI and AX hub university representing the southeastern region.

President Kwon Jinhoe said, "In the era of AI and AX transformation, national flagship universities must lead innovation across education, research, and industry-academia cooperation as key hubs driving regional innovation and national competitiveness," adding, "Gyeongsang National University will pursue implementation-focused strategies to strengthen competitiveness so that it can grow into a globally competitive AI and AX hub university representing the southeastern region through AI-based innovation in education and research and the advancement of industry-academia cooperation."
