Lotte Duty Free announced on February 12 that, along with attracting large cruise group customers, it will roll out promotions for foreign free independent travelers (FITs) during the Lunar New Year holiday.
As cruise routes from China have recently expanded, large tour groups have been visiting Lotte Duty Free’s major downtown locations. On February 6, around 2,300 Chinese tourists who arrived on the MSC Bellissima, the largest cruise ship ever to enter Incheon Port since its opening, visited Lotte Duty Free’s Myeongdong main store. During the Lunar New Year holiday, a total of about 4,000 cruise group tourists are expected to visit Lotte Duty Free’s Busan and Jeju stores.

View original imageAt Lotte Duty Free’s downtown stores, through February 23, foreign customers can receive a total of 90,000 won in “PRE LDF PAY” and up to 1.23 million won in “LDF PAY.” When paying with Alipay, which is mainly used by Chinese-speaking customers, they can receive up to an additional 300,000 won in benefits. In line with the Korea Grand Sale period, foreign tourists visiting the Myeongdong Welcome Center are being offered leaflets that include discount coupons and membership tier upgrade benefits. During the Lunar New Year holiday, Lotte Internet Duty Free is providing additional discounts depending on purchase amount when customers pay with UnionPay.
Promotions for Korean customers are also underway. Through February 28, customers who purchase products in the fashion and watches & jewelry categories at Lotte Duty Free’s Myeongdong main store, World Tower store, and Jeju store, and in all categories at the Busan store, will receive up to 1.51 million won in LDF PAY depending on their purchase amount. During the Lunar New Year holiday, customers who pay with Naver Pay can receive up to 1.88 million won in LDF PAY.
