Seongnam City to Provide 30.8 Billion Won in Educational Subsidies to 253 Kindergartens and Schools

Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Shin Sangjin) announced on February 12 that it will provide a total of 30.8 billion won in educational expense subsidies this year to 253 kindergartens, elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools.
By area of support, the city will invest 5.5 billion won in improving school facilities, including replacing outdated heating and cooling systems at 28 schools and renovating restrooms.
It has allocated 2 billion won to support the reconstruction costs of the main building of Seongnam Jeil Elementary School.
The city has allocated 4.7 billion won for eight projects, including school uniforms for new middle and high school students and after-school programs at kindergartens.
It will allocate 8.3 billion won to 10 projects in the Seongnam Future Education sector, such as digital competency enhancement education and region-specific specialization programs, and 10.3 billion won to the project supporting the establishment of a science high school.
The city recently held an Education Support Deliberation Committee meeting and resolved to provide this level of educational expense support for 48 detailed projects across four areas.

A Seongnam City official said, "The educational expenses supported by Seongnam City are budgeted to help create a safe and pleasant educational environment and to foster talent with core competencies for the future," adding, "We will continue to work to close regional educational gaps and to ensure that students can receive creative and diverse education within the public education system."
