First, the council members received a briefing from Halla Engineering & Construction Corp., the project proponent, on the current status of the project and related details, and exchanged views on the necessity of constructing the Jungbu Connection Private Investment Expressway and on the detailed sections where the expressway would connect with existing roads.
Chair Jo Seongdae stated, "The Jungbu Connection Private Investment Expressway is an essential transportation network for Namyangju City, not only to resolve citizens' commuting congestion by handling stagnant traffic demand, but also to attract companies and create jobs. Through this, more efficient connections between the east-west and north-south road networks within Namyangju City will become possible," expressing a strong commitment to actively promoting the project.
He went on to say, "Reflecting the aspirations of Namyangju citizens, Namyangju City Council plans to actively propose to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and related agencies so that the project can be implemented in a timely manner."
Operations Committee Chair Lee Jinhwan said, "Given the importance and urgency of the project, one option would be to move forward more swiftly by reviewing alternative routes that exclude major areas of civil complaints."
Assemblyman Kim Jihun and Assemblywoman Lee Suryeon requested, "Please actively reflect the demands of residents in Jinjeop, Onam, Wabu, and Geumgok, which the road will pass through, so that citizens can use it more conveniently and efficiently."

Meanwhile, the Jungbu Connection Private Investment Expressway is a privately invested expressway connecting a total length of 27.1 kilometers from Hasangok-dong in Hanam City (Jungbu Expressway) to Jinjeop-eup in Namyangju City (National Route 47), consisting of 4 kilometers in Hanam City and 23.1 kilometers in Namyangju City. It has been promoted as a traffic improvement measure to alleviate chronic congestion in the section where it merges with the Jungbu Expressway and the Seoul Metropolitan Area 1st Ring Expressway, and to handle traffic demand arising from the construction of the third-generation new towns. Although it is being pursued with the goal of completion in 2030, the project is currently delayed due to opposition from neighboring local governments.
