Boseong County Launches Emergency Duty System for 2026 Lunar New Year Holiday
All-out Response in Safety, Livelihood, Traffic, and Medical Sectors
Boseong-gun in South Jeolla Province announced that, for five days starting on February 14, it will operate an emergency duty system centered on a comprehensive situation room and implement comprehensive measures by sector so that returning visitors and local residents can spend a safe and comfortable Lunar New Year holiday.
During the holiday period, the county will operate a total of eight task forces, including those at the county office, towns and townships, and public facilities, and will maintain a thorough readiness posture across all areas, including traffic, prices, fuel supply, livestock diseases, household waste and water and sewage, health and medical care, disasters, accidents and safety, forest fires, and public service discipline.

View original imageIn particular, the comprehensive situation room installed at the county office will operate on a 24-hour emergency basis and will respond immediately to any emergencies through close coordination with the disaster and safety situation room, the public health center’s emergency quarantine task force, the forest fire comprehensive situation room, and others.
To revitalize the local economy during the holiday, the county is selling the Boseong Love Gift Certificates at a discount (10% for paper vouchers, 12% for cards) and holding traditional market shopping events to encourage merchants and listen to difficulties on the ground.
In addition, through a special Lunar New Year promotion on “Boseong Mall,” an online direct marketplace for local agricultural and specialty products, the county promoted consumption of these products by offering discounts of up to 20% on purchases of 30,000 won or more during the February 4 to 6 event period.
At the same time, the county is operating a special task force for price stabilization and conducting parallel efforts such as inspections of price labeling for key holiday items and on-site guidance to resolve overdue wages.
To prepare for traffic congestion during the Lunar New Year holiday, the county is running a special traffic countermeasures situation room and implementing measures such as increasing the number of intercity and city bus services, adjusting taxi dispatching, and improving terminal facilities. In major congestion sections, it will strengthen traffic control in cooperation with the police and provide guidance on detour routes.
During the holiday period, the disaster and safety situation room will operate 24 hours a day, and safety inspections of multi-use facilities have been completed in advance. In cooperation with the fire department, the county is strengthening patrols in fire-prone areas and has secured transport safety by coordinating special sailings of the Jangdosarang ferry route.
To prepare for forest fires, the county is installing and operating a forest fire comprehensive situation room, while strengthening public guidance activities to prevent accidental fires by visitors to ancestral graves and monitoring vulnerable areas more closely.
In the health sector, the emergency rooms of Boseong Asan Hospital and Samho Hospital will operate 24 hours a day, designated on-call medical institutions and holiday pharmacies will be in operation, and daytime medical services at health sub-centers and health clinics will be maintained. A 24-hour emergency quarantine communication system will also be in place to respond to infectious diseases.
In the area of the living environment, the county is carrying out intensive collection of household waste, establishing an emergency water supply system for tap water, and implementing special monitoring for environmental pollution, while separately operating food waste collection during the holiday.
The county will deliver consolation money and goods to 1,369 people in social welfare facilities and low-income vulnerable groups, while also providing tailored support to households in the welfare blind spots.
Before the holiday, a special inspection team will be operated to check public officials’ work discipline, any delays in handling civil complaints, and violations such as the giving and receiving of money or valuables.
