New Year’s Message from Hyundai Motor President Jose Munoz
Jose Munoz, President and Global Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motor Company, stressed that the company will execute the largest investment in its history in domestic and overseas markets over the next five years. The plan is to invest about 125 trillion won in Korea and about 35 trillion won in North America. He also expressed his intention to strengthen business strategies focused on key markets such as China and India.
In a New Year’s message sent to executives and employees on the 10th, President Munoz said, “Despite geopolitical uncertainties such as tariffs and regulations last year, we achieved 186.3 trillion won in revenue and global sales of 4.14 million units,” adding, “Over the next five years, we will invest 125.2 trillion won in Korea, the largest amount ever, and inject about 26 billion dollars (around 35 trillion won) into North America to solidify our global leadership.”
President Munoz also highlighted the Group’s future business direction. He said, “The recent rise in our share price has been supported by the physical artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics vision showcased at CES, the world’s largest IT and home appliance exhibition, as well as by our robust execution capabilities.” He continued, “To achieve our 2030 target of 5.55 million global vehicle sales, we will expand our hybrid lineup to 18 models,” adding, “Through the launch of Genesis hybrid models and the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) scheduled for release next year, we will provide customers with optimal choices.”
He also said that the company will push ahead with expanding production capacity in India and restructuring its business in China. In Europe, the company accelerated its electrification transition despite a demanding regulatory environment, and in the Indian market it performed well by promoting electric vehicles that have grown by more than 750%.
