Gangwon Province Finds All Holiday Foods Compliant in Lunar New Year Safety Inspection
Safety inspections completed for acid value, food colorants, heavy metals, pesticide residues, and food poisoning bacteria
The Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Institute of Health and Environment (Director Shin Incheol, hereinafter referred to as the "Institute") announced on the 10th that it had conducted safety tests for hazardous substances and food poisoning bacteria on holiday foods collected during a joint inspection of food manufacturing, distribution, and sales businesses in the province ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, and confirmed that all products met the relevant standards.

View original imageThis safety inspection was carried out on a total of 77 items, including processed foods, ritual cooked foods, and agricultural and marine products, for which consumption is expected to increase during the Lunar New Year holiday period, from January 21 to February 2.
The main inspection items included acid value, unauthorized tar dyes, preservatives, heavy metals, pesticide residues, residues of veterinary drugs, sanitary indicator bacteria, and food poisoning bacteria. The test results showed that all items met the safety standards.

Shin Incheol, Director of the Institute of Health and Environment, said, "To ensure that residents of the province can safely enjoy food with their families during Seol, the biggest traditional holiday, we are conducting advance safety inspections on food items that are heavily consumed during the holiday," adding, "We will continue to make efforts to ensure that residents can consume food with peace of mind by conducting preemptive inspections of harmful substances in distributed foods and releasing the results."
