Former Lawmaker Hong Seokjun Announces Bid for Daegu Mayor: "I Will Take Responsibility for Daegu's Future"
Former lawmaker Hong Seokjun (59) declared his candidacy for Daegu mayor on the 4th at Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park in downtown Daegu.
Hong said, "I know Daegu's history, culture, economy, and society very well across both time and space, and I have done concrete work in Daegu," adding, "The establishment of numerous medical infrastructure facilities such as the automobile driving test center, the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement, and the Korea Brain Research Institute was achieved through grueling, tearful efforts."
Hong pledged, "I have proven myself through actions, not words, and I will now take responsibility for Daegu's future."

After passing the local higher civil service examination in 1996, Hong worked at Daegu City Hall for 24 years, serving as head of the Future Industry Promotion Headquarters and director of the Economic Affairs Bureau, and later served as a member of the 21st National Assembly representing the Dalseo-gu Gap constituency in Daegu.
