K-Music Captivates Bangkok... Korea Spotlight by KOCCA Concludes Successfully
3,800 Gather for 'Bangkok Music City' Concert
Laying the Groundwork for ASEAN Expansion Through Buyer Meetings
Korean popular music has once again demonstrated its strength in Thailand.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency announced on January 28 that the "Korea Spotlight" program was successfully held at "Bangkok Music City 2026," which took place in Bangkok over two days starting January 24.
Korea Spotlight is the Korea Creative Content Agency's flagship brand project that supports promising domestic musicians in advancing overseas. As an official partner of Bangkok Music City, this year’s event focused on developing practical export channels by combining showcases with business matching opportunities.
The local response was enthusiastic. Five teams-Shaun, Young Wave, Milena, Animal Divers, and 87Dance-took the stage, presenting a diverse range of Korean music genres. Over the course of two days, more than 3,800 global industry professionals and audience members gathered at the venue.
The excitement from the performances translated into business achievements. The Korea Creative Content Agency invited representatives from major Thai music companies such as Live Nation Tero, What the Duck Music, and Mahorasop to arrange one-on-one business meetings with Korean agencies. At the subsequent networking reception, about 260 participants from both countries engaged in in-depth discussions on collaboration.
Yoo Hyunseok, Acting President of the Korea Creative Content Agency, stated, "This event not only promoted the appeal of Korean popular music but also provided musicians with tangible opportunities to enter the market. We will continue to offer strategic support to expand the presence of K-music in global markets, including ASEAN."
