President In previously served as the head of the Bupyeong Culture Street Merchants Association, co-chairman of the National Distribution Merchants Association, and president of the Korea Federation of Micro Enterprise and Self-Employed. He later became the Secretary for Self-Employed Workers at the Presidential Office, a position newly established in 2018.
Last year, President In was considered a leading candidate for the newly created position of Second Vice Minister at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. However, after it was revealed that he is the brother-in-law of broadcaster Kim Eo-jun, there was some public opposition.
