View original imageOn January 23, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism selected and announced 27 festivals nationwide as "2026-2027 Cultural Tourism Festivals." The Gangneung Coffee Festival was reselected in recognition of its competitive edge as a regional content and its significant impact on tourism.
With this selection, the Gangneung Coffee Festival will receive government support over the next two years, including national funding, domestic and international promotion, tourism product development, enhancement of content competitiveness, and improvements in AI-based readiness.
Meanwhile, starting this year, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization plan to expand support for global festivals, connecting worldwide interest in "K-Culture" to regional flagship global festivals and encouraging both domestic and international tourists to visit regions beyond the metropolitan area.

An official from the Gangneung Cultural Foundation stated, "In line with the government's policy to foster global festivals, we will develop the Gangneung Coffee Festival into a global coffee culture platform representing K-Culture," adding, "We plan to expand it as a core cultural tourism asset that attracts domestic and international tourists and revitalizes the local economy."
