The real-time signal information disclosure project involves making traffic signal data managed by local governments and the police available to the public in real time, enabling its use in both private and public services. This information is provided to users through private navigation systems.
The newly launched real-time signal information service covers 29 intersections along an approximately 8-kilometer stretch from Deogeun-gyo Samgeori on Jungang-ro to Daegok Station. When approaching intersections within this section, drivers receive real-time updates on the remaining time for the current signal and when the signal will change. This is expected to significantly reduce driver fatigue while waiting at signals and prevent accidents caused by sudden stops when entering intersections, thereby greatly enhancing traffic safety.
In particular, since large vehicles require longer distances to accelerate and decelerate, and because Jungang-ro is a major arterial road with a central bus-only lane that sees heavy large vehicle traffic, the launch of this service is expected to have a significant impact.
With the launch of this service, the city plans to strengthen cooperation with related organizations and gradually expand the coverage of signal information disclosure, continuously advancing the intelligent transportation system (ITS) and promoting citizen-oriented smart transportation services.
