This year, the total number of applicants was 4,228, a decrease of 568 from the previous year due to a decline in the school-age population.
The detailed number of applicants by district is as follows: Gangseo Middle School District, 1,832; Okgye-Sandong Middle School District, 1,217; Indong Middle School District, 591; Goa Middle School District, 433; and the five middle school zones, 155. Of the total 4,228 applicants, 2,228 were male students and 2,000 were female students.
The computerized lottery utilized the NEIS-based middle school entrance assignment program developed by the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education to enhance objectivity and reliability. To verify the transparency of the assignment results, more than 30 people-including representatives of parents, officials from the Gumi Police Station and Gumi City Hall, journalists, school officials, and education office staff-attended and directly observed the entire process.
The Gumi Office of Education focused on ensuring fairness in the assignment process by using a random computerized lottery method that reflected the applicants’ order of preference. The results of the lottery will be announced on January 9 (Friday) at 2:00 p.m. on the Gumi Office of Education website.
