Iksan City Operates Customized Counseling Services for Youth
One-on-One Counseling Sessions with Professional Counselors
Iksan City in North Jeolla Province is providing customized counseling services for local youth through its Youth Counseling and Welfare Center.
According to the city on December 30, 2025, the counseling service has been established to support the healthy development of local youth who are struggling with academic stress and interpersonal relationships.
With the recent increase in youth reporting overdependence on digital devices and feelings of emotional isolation, the city has implemented a comprehensive psychological support system for those aged 9 to 24.
The main programs include one-on-one counseling sessions with professional counselors, specialized psychological assessments to identify personality, career, and learning styles, as well as group counseling aimed at improving social skills.
In particular, for high-risk youth who face significant psychological barriers, the city is strengthening its safety net through the "Youth Companion (YC)" program, in which counselors visit homes, schools, and other sites directly.
Additionally, the "Youth Hotline 1388," which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, provides real-time counseling via phone, text message, and KakaoTalk-channels familiar to young people. In the event of a crisis, the city offers integrated support, including emergency rescue, medical assistance, and follow-up care, in collaboration with the local youth safety network.
The city also provides support for out-of-school youth, including preparation for qualification exams, obtaining certifications, and self-development activities. Any youth in need of assistance can contact the Iksan Youth Counseling and Welfare Center.
