at Gariwangsan Cable Car
Jeongseon County in Gangwon Province announced on December 30 that it will hold the "2026 Gariwangsan Sunrise Festival" at the Gariwangsan Cable Car area on January 1, 2026, the first day of the new year.
This sunrise festival has been organized to share both the hopes for the designation of Gariwangsan as a National Garden and the aspirations for the new year among county residents, based on the Olympic legacy of Gariwangsan. Approximately 1,000 people, including officials from local and external organizations, groups, and county residents, are expected to participate.
The event will begin at 6:20 a.m. with the operation of the Gariwangsan Cable Car. At the upper station, known as Gariwangsan Station, a sunrise viewing and a "Performance Wishing for the Establishment of Gariwangsan National Garden" will take place. Afterwards, the main ceremony, including New Year’s greetings and well-wishing remarks, will be held at the Alpine Plaza parking lot.
