In the city and county category, the evaluation focused on identifying outstanding cases among the population decline and local extinction response policies implemented by each city and county this year.
Samcheok City received high marks for its efforts to increase the resident population and revitalize the city by establishing a model that combines sports, vacation, education, and convention. Key initiatives included major tourist site tours linked with the national 3x3 basketball tournament, youth career camps using sports as a medium, and presenting population decline crisis response strategies through the Sportscation Conference.
